Training for You

Partners Training Academy (PTA) offers educational sessions especially for the residents and professionals of Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Surry, and Yadkin Counties, as well as the other citizens and communities of the state of North Carolina. Topics include:

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Similar to First Aid and CPR, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to help those experiencing mental health and/or substance abuse challenges or crises. You learn about various mental illness and addiction, along with signs and symptoms. Youth Mental Health First Aid is also available for those who work with children and adolescents.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer)

This 90-minute training will equip you with the necessary tools to recognize the warning signs of suicide. After completion, you will have the knowledge, resources and courage to be a QPR Gatekeeper. Ask a question, save a life!

Child Abuse Prevention – Darkness to Light

This two-hour training is designed to prevent childhood sexual abuse by increasing awareness and education in communities.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan®

A Wellness Recovery Action Plan® (WRAP®) is a tool used to stay well, to work through difficult times, and assist in recovery and personal growth. Learn how to create a WRAP® for your own recovery journey.

Training for Community Partners

Partners works with community partners, such as law enforcement, emergency services, justice departments, long term care facilities, and businesses so they can help citizens living with a mental illness, addiction, or an intellectual or developmental disability.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

This international program helps law enforcement, and other first responders, learn more about behavioral health issues and how to handle difficult calls from citizens in crisis.

Geriatric and Adult Specialty Team (GAST) Program

This team of registered nurses and licensed clinicians provides training and education to long-term care facility staff caring for geriatric residents with mental illness. The skills provided by GAST help the caregivers to address the unique needs of the residents.

Child and Family Team Training

Child and Family Teams support the active involvement of all who impact a child’s life during treatment. Child and Family Team Trainings help those supporting the youth and his or her family learn the best ways to engage families during a Child and Family Team meeting.
